A HEALTH CARE EXPERIENCE AT THE HEALTHY LIVING EXPO

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO (April 6, 2006) - The Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals & Businesses (CPB) and The Mississauga News, in association with the Trillium Health Centre and support from The Ontario Trillium Foundation, are proud to host the 6th Annual Healthy Living Expo on Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the University of Toronto at Mississauga, Ontario.

The Expo is a one-day fair with seminars focused on developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Trillium Health Centre has provided the following featured topics and speakers at the Expo:

  • Health Promotion and Disease Prevention – Risk Factors for Chronic Disease
    Speaker: Stacey Horodezny, RD, Clinical Leader, Diabetes Management Centre
  • Making the Most of Your Family Doctor Visit – Your First Step to Better Health
    Speaker: Dr. June Kingston, Family Physician, Chief of Family Practice
  • A Guide to Caring for Seniors – Information for the Sandwich Generation
    Speaker: Tiziana Rivera, RN, MSc, ACNP, GNC(C), Manager, Senior’s Health
  • Stress Defined – What you need to know
    Speaker: Kathryn P. Bareja, MA, BSW, MSW, RSW, Social Worker, Cardiology

"At Trillium Health Centre we are committed to providing the families in our community with the information they need to live healthy lives. The presentations we have arranged for the Healthy Living Expo touch on a variety of health-promotion and disease-prevention topics. We thank the CPB for giving us this opportunity to partner with them on this important community initiative," said Doris Mohrhardt, Director of Community Relations at Trillium Health Centre and Co-Chair of Healthy Living Expo 2006.

"The support we receive from our health-care partners is encouraging," said Dr. Stephen Ho, Director of CPB and Co-Chair of the Expo. "We have also invited doctors and medical practitioners from The Credit Valley Hospital, University of Toronto, St. John Ambulance, and other organizations, with an assortment of topics including things to note when traveling, dental implants, managing pain, healthy eating, first aid for seniors, Chinese herbal medication, tai chi, and much more."

Teresa DeLuca, Sales Manager of The Mississauga News and Co-Chair of the Expo, supervises a sales team to work with the exhibitors. "There will be over 50 exhibitors at the Expo, including government agencies, non-profit organizations and companies, showcasing their products and services to assist in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. There will be free tests and free activities for everyone attending to try out."

Participants who attend at least 3 seminars and visit 5 booths will be eligible to enter a lucky draw to win one return air ticket within North America, courtesy of Maknet Corporation.
